The renovation of the Guilford Building centered on creating corporate office space, conferencing facilities, and a fitness facility for the employees of Eagle Realty and Western Southern Life Insurance. The design kept the public conference and educational areas on the lower floors and private office space on upper stories. The lower level gymnasium and pool were completely overhauled for use as the executive fitness center. A major portion of the renovation was on the exterior, with painstaking attention given to maintaining and replicating the historic features of the building. This included window replacement, terra cotta restoration, wrought iron site railing, and dramatic exterior lighting systems. The renovation also included major structural and mechanical system upgrades and two major building additions that were integrated into the building’s existing architecture.
