The Benson Bowl is the original outdoor athletic field for Kenyon College and is located on the edge of the picturesque campus in Gambier, Ohio founded in 1824.
Long since abandoned as the “home field” for the Lords & Ladies Athletic Programs of Kenyon in favor of McBride Stadium, the Benson Bowl had become a simple grass practice field adjacent to the iconic Kenyon Athletic Center. MSA Sport worked with Kenyon Athletics to develop a multi-phase development plan for the site to convert it from a practice venue to the home field for the Kenyon Field Hockey and Lacrosse Teams, as well as an alternate practice venue for other Varsity and Recreational Sports.
Features of the “New” Benson Bowl include:
- New Plaza and Gateways that include an Honor/Memorial Area for donors.
- New Support Areas including Pressbox, Restrooms, and Concessions.
- New Synthetic Turf Field integrally striped for NCAA regulation Mens/Womens Lacrosse and Soccer
- New 500 seat grandstand with dynamic canopy element that compliments the adjacent Kenyon Athletic Center Structure
- New LED Sports Lighting
