Great Oaks Career Campuses has been executing an innovative career training program for decades, and tasked MSA Design to renovate and revitalize their Live Oaks Career Campus. The team was responsible for creating spaces that reinforced the client’s priorities: respecting the student, activating the learning environment, and creating a sense of place. An emphasis was also put on the user experience, considering how students will circulate throughout the space. An overarching design principle was utilizing unexpected geometry and angularity throughout the graphics in the building. This look reflects the structure itself but to also represents the unfolding of a path not yet forged.

The updated entry provides a sense of arrival and identity that is a beacon from all sides of the site. The atrium leads to career programs organized with overlapping skills into mini “academies”, with distinct but cohesive imagery welcoming and creating visual identity. Key decision points were fitted with wayfinding displays featuring layers of imagery and information, forming multi-functional elements. The team focused on developing a refined yet energizing look that would inspire students and fit within the parameters of the design goals.
