As MSA Design celebrates its 40th anniversary, the firm reflects on four decades of purposeful growth stemming from humble beginnings in Cincinnati to a dynamic, seventy-plus person practice with studios in two cities and a national portfolio of award-winning work. Recent achievements underscore this continued momentum, including the University of Cincinnati Sheakley Indoor Practice Facility and Athlete Performance Center, the Green Township Police Department and Administrative Center, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission Eastside Recreation Center, the Upper Arlington Bob Crane Community Center, and the City of Gahanna Civic Center.

Katie Freeland AIA, LEED AP - Principal Freeland leads operational strategy in Central Ohio focused on strengthening efficiency, collaboration, and firm-wide excellence. She is known for guiding teams with empathy, authenticity, and adaptability, cultivating an environment where people feel supported, connected, and empowered to excel. Freeland is actively involved in the professional and local community through the American Institute of Architects, the Board of the Greater Columbus Sports Commission Board, is MSA Design’s Pelotonia Team Captain, and is a graduate of Leadership Upper Arlington, Class of 2021.
